For 27 years now visitors have been enjoying the panoramic sea & walled-garden views from all 5 bedrooms & reception rooms. Designed & built mainly in the 1960s & 70s by its London architect owner, this house occupies one of the finest positions along the stunning Jurassic Coast, looking south towards Durlston Castle & east towards the Isle of Wight. The 4 twin bedrooms and main reception rooms are all on ground level whilst the open-plan family bedroom with en-suite is on the lower garden level & sleeps 4.
There is a large, very well-equipped kitchen with larder-fridge, chest freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, dishwasher & gas range with added electric oven. The kitchen leads through to a semi-circular dining room & large sitting room. The upper & lower walled gardens & patios offer scope for croquet, swingball & many other games with some equipment provided.
The house also has digital TV, DVD player, WiFi Broadband, central heating, a real log fireplace if requested, 4 WCs, 2 shower rooms & 1 bathroom. All bed linen is provided & beds will be made up ready for your arrival but please bring your own towels. There is a carport for 1 car & plenty of on-road parking outside the property in first-come-first-served car bays. A maximum of 12 people may stay. The owners of the house live on site.
Swanage town centre & beaches, the Steam Railway & Victorian Pier, Durlston Country Park & Anvil Lighthouse are all a short walk away. There is a local bus service up & down the hill from May to September & taxis on call all year round.
If you would like more information or would like to ask about short breaks & availability please e-mail or phone first. We ask for a non-refundable deposit of a third of the total to secure any booking.
Once you have reached the outskirts of Swanage via Wareham & Corfe Castle or Studland villages, follow the brown signs for Durlston Country Park. At the top of Durlston Road before the road heads down again you will see a red postbox on the right hand side at the junction of Durlston Road & Bon Accord Road. Turn left here into Belle Vue Road past the Wordsworth Nursing Home. You will see a high stone wall with white double doors at the curved end of this road next to the pedestrian entrance to the Downs. Further along this wall you will come to brown gates marked 3 on your left. You have arrived!
