The Pier and stone quay

This photo from the late 1800s shows the entrance to the piers at Swanage with several horse drawn carriages waiting for passengers next to the entrance.

Further along the beach are several wooden boats on the shoreline and the stone quay.

In the distance you can see the buildings along Institute Road and the old Mowlem building.

This photo was scanned from a book called “Picturesque Swanage Photographic Views of Swanage, Durlston, Studland” and was published at Burts Stores, Swanage which was in the lower High Street.
