This photo from the early 1900s shows the view from near Peveril Point looking west towards the town with wooden boats in the foreground and the lifeboat station behind. The Wellington Tower is on the shoreline and the two Victorian Piers in the centre the photo. A paddle steamer is moored at the pier waiting for passengers. In the distance are the Purbeck Hills.
