The Town Pound is one of the many examples of Wareham's social history and forms part of the Wareham Walls Walk, a leisurely stroll around the Saxon Walls, built by King Alfred to protect his people against the marauding Vikings. The mediaeval Pound has been rejuvenated with the addition of life-size animal artworks created by the students of the Purbeck School, seating, planting and improved access by Renaissance Developments, and the installation of an interpretation board telling the full story of the Pound
