The Flying Scotsman at Swanage Railway

The world-famous LNER A3 Pacific No. 60103 Flying Scotsman stands in Swanage station yard while support crew in high-visibility vests prepare her for the weekends work. Two crew members are perched on the running plate, polishing the gleaming green boiler. Others work at track level around the large spoked driving wheels, oiling the motion and checking the valve gear. The tender is piled high with coal, and the locomotive’s lined green livery, brass number plate and nameplate show off the care that goes into keeping this icon of British steam in service.
