North end of Shore Road from the air
This aerial photo dates to the 1930s and shows the north end of Shore Road and the start of Redcliffe Road.
On the left of the photo are several cars parked in what is now Clifton Road which leads to De Mowlem Road.
The area which is now De Mowlem Road is a dirt track with grass and trees where there are now houses.
Several of the large houses along the hill behind the shoreline have their own private steps leading down to the beach.
Large sections of the cliff face have since fallen and the gardens are now smaller than shown in this photo.
The large building with a sign in the garden was the Highcliffe Private Hotel.
In the lower left of the photo is the large Café building which is still in use today.
