Dorset Christmas Festival - Pull a Pine RSPB Arne
Saturday, 28 November 2026 to Sunday, 29 November 2026
10:00 to 15:00
Type: Childrens or Family Event
Booking Required: Yes
Join us for one of the biggest conservation events in the country. While we love trees, what nature needs is the right trees in the right place. On our precious and rare lowland heathland pine when planted in forestry plantations, quickly take over, blocking out the light and pushing wildlife out as they grow. If allowed the trees will completely take over this very rare environment.
By helping us to remove the pine trees, you can help us protect the beautiful heathland for the future and look after an area which some of our rarest wildlife in the UK call their home. Sand Lizards, Smooth snakes, and our specialist heathland birds – Dartford warblers and Nightjars rely on the heathland as their home. By cutting your own pine tree for Christmas you not only be taking home a piece of Arne, but you will be making a real difference to help the RSPB protect this rare and wonderful environment.
So, get your wellies on, dig out your Christmas hats and scarves and join us for a special festive day in nature. This year's Pull a Pine will be held over 2 days on the weekend of 28 & 29 November, giving you more choice on which day or days to book. The event runs from 10:00am - 3:00pm.
The car park opens at 9:00am and our last entry to the car park is 2:00pm and 2:15 to the event site). There will be live music, and lots festive cheer! The event closes at 3:00pm sharp due to the dimming light.
Our café team will be hosting a festive tent on the heath with refreshments, hot tasty food, and mulled cider. Our shop and café in the wildlife garden will also be open for festive shopping and your Arne café favourites. The festival is a chance to start the festive season with family and friends and most importantly the opportunity to do your bit for nature.
At the shop we will be hosting a binoculars and telescopes event over the weekend. It's the perfect opportunity to try a range of optics before you buy, whether you are new to birdwatching or looking to upgrade your equipment. Our expert team will be on hand throughout the weekend to offer advice and help you find the right optics for your needs
Don’t miss out! We are offering 15% off in the Arne shop for all ticket holders during Pull a Pine. Please show your wristband in the shop to get your discount. Please note this offer includes RSPB binoculars and telescopes and it’s a great chance to get all your Christmas shopping done. Offer excludes branded binoculars, scopes, sale items, stamps and gift cards.

Don't forget to bring something to wrap your tree in, together with rope or straps to secure it. This will help protect your vehicle and make carrying your tree home much easier.
