St Aldhelms Chapel Worth Matravers
St Aldhelm's Chapel, a Norman-era stone chapel dating to around 1140, stands alone on the exposed clifftop of St Aldhelm's Head near Worth Matravers, Dorset. Built of local Purbeck stone, the chapel has a distinctive square, pyramid-roofed profile with thick buttressed walls designed to withstand fierce coastal winds. Inside, a single central pillar supports a vaulted ceiling.
