29th Birthday for Virtual Swanage
Only one more year until the Virtual Swanage website hits the big 30.
We celebrate this milestone with other websites also launched in 1996 including Ask Jeeves, Booking.com, Wayback Machine and Yahoo.
2025 has been a busy year with the website undergoing a complete back end rebuild using ASP.Net core which has seen big improvements in performance with smaller file sizes and faster loading times.
Website visitor numbers have remained steady with 444,3534 to date (25/07/2025) from the start of the year with 659,817 page views so far this year on the site.
The most popular pages are still the webcams, gallery and accommodation.
One page which has seen a surprising increase in visitors is the Naturist Beach page with a 41% increase and the cycling routes pages with a 12% increase.
We would like to thank all the local businesses and groups who have supported myself and my brother with the running of the website supplying events, advertising their services and helping to promote Swanage and Purbeck online.
