Our course is perfect for both complete beginners and novices looking to learn more about the how’s and why’s of kayaking. Many had never even been near a kayak before starting our course. Minimum age 13 years old when accompanied with an adult.

H2oadventures has passionate and highly qualified coaches and guides ready to get you excited about all things kayaking on and off the water. With our River to sea course you will start off your journey in the safety of the Rive Frome in Wareham with 3 sessions. Here you will learn all the fundamental skills you will need to head off on your kayaking adventures in Dorset including how to rescue yourself and others. There will be lots of fun games and races . You will learn all about route planning, using vhf radio, Rescue techniques, map reading, Navigation chart use.

With your new skills we will head out into bigger waters and learn a little about open water navigation and kayak off into Poole Harbour and explore Brownsea island . Here you will get to learn about Buoyage and cardinal marks to help navigate around a large area of busy waterway. Don’t worry there is more opportunities to practice your rescues here.

Now you have experienced the joys of heading further away from the shore and learnt all about the hows and the whys of navigating around the busy Harbours we will take you to the sea. Swanage Bay is the perfect location to put your skills to the test and hopefully you will have a few waves to play with . Swanage bay is 3km from one end to the other and with its new and old pier to play around you will be amazed at your new skills and how you can explore. With so much freedom you will want to head for the horizon.

Session 6 is where you get to head out to explore Old Harry rocks. You’ve put in so much hard work learning all the valuable skills on the River in Wareham , Open water kayaked across Poole Harbour and played in the waves of Swanage Bay. Now its time to head off from Studland Knoll beach and reach Old harry rocks . This is the perfect location to explore the archway and caves that have been carved out by the sea over time. There will be no worrying about how do I control my kayak any more giving you the time to enjoy the views and head along the Jurassic coast with your fellow kayakers. This course gives you the perfect opportunity to meet new friends with a shared passion where you can create your own adventures together.

During your 6 week course you will have the opportunity to work through the British canoeing personal performance awards with both Discover and Explorer .
