A drama, based on true events, about a group of African-American women who were hired by NASA for their skills in mathematics to be a part of America's space programme in the 1960s.
Taraji P. Henson stars in Hidden Figures, the remarkable true story of Katherine Johnson, the African American scientist who played a key role in Project Mercury, NASA’s first human spaceflight program.
It is the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)-brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation's confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.
The second film from Theodore Melfi after St. Vincent, Hidden Figures is a buoyant and uplifting slice of untold history, with triumphant performances from the three leads, plus brilliant support from Kirsten Dunst, Kevin Costner and Jim Parsons.
