Purbeck Art Weeks Festival ‘Midsummer Dreams’
Running from May 27th to June 11th 2017, Purbeck Art Weeks (PAW) is a vibrant annualcommunity Arts Festival that pulls together local artists, groups and schools to celebrate and share all forms of art and performance in Purbeck. The theme for this year is Midsummer Dreams.
Throughout Purbeck the Festival’s participating artists enthusiastically open their studios - showcasing to visitors their latest work and many providing live demonstrations. Local Galleries are also involved. Rollington Barn near Corfe Castle hosts PAW’s showcase exhibition, displaying work from all 100 PAW artists and local schools workshops. In the courtyard of this beautiful stone barn the cafe provides a selection of delicious homemade cakes, light lunches, and hot and cold drinks. Marking the start of the festival in the seaside town of Swanage, local schools unveil their outdoor ‘Swirls of Fish’ art installation for the community to enjoy.

These include a visit from acclaimed international group Cuatro Puntos with Helen Ostafew and friends, folk songs and readings by Dorset Words takes Wing, and returning by popular demand the Inner City Brass ensemble of world class brass musicians. Workshops and a concert will be offered by the Fieri Consort, and there is an unmissable musical celebration of Shakespeare’s 400th Anniversary with Stile Antico, firmly established as one of the world’s most accomplished and innovative vocal ensembles. Arange of illustrated talks are being offered by local experts, including the colourful history of Dunshay Manor, Purbeck.
