The Accommodation
Chalkdell cottage is a small, 200 year old, Grade II listed cottage with lots of charm. It has two bedrooms and sleeps up to four persons (2 adults, 2 children), having a double bedroom and a small bunk bedroom. It is ideally suitable for families who want a seaside holiday or perhaps a couple who want a relaxing break near the sea. The cottage is approximately one mile from Swanage beach and town centre and has stunning views over the downs opposite. It is ideally placed for touring the beautiful countryside, enjoying coastal walks or visiting the many local attractions. The steam railway is just a short stroll up the lane – or over the fields, and there is a tiny station, Herston Halt, where you can hail the train. Close by is a convenience store, two pubs, an Indian restaurant and a Fish and Chip shop.
Our previous guests tell us that the cottage is very well equipped. The newly fitted kitchen has a washing machine, dishwasher, modern ceramic hob, built in oven, 'fridge/freezer etc. The lounge has beamed ceilings and is comfortably furnished. There is a TV/DVD with freeview stations and a radio cassette player for you to use and there are DVDs, CD's and books for you to enjoy. As the cottage is centrally heated it is very cosy for winter breaks. Linen is provided for all the beds which are made up for your arrival. We also provide one bath towel and one hand towel per person free of hire charge. A welcome tray is left out for your arrival. The patio garden has a picnic table/bench for you to enjoy eating outside on sunny days. Buckets and spades are in the shed.
Really sorry, we do not accept pets.
