Watch your speed
The dorset speed camera vans are out in the area at the moment, there was one at Corfe Castle tonight at the bottom of the castle and there have been several sightings in Ulwell trying to catch people as they come into the 30 limit.
Please watch your speed and keep within the limits and if anyone sees one of the vans or cameras on the side of the road, please post it on here and then we can all be happy knowing they are keeping the roads safe for us and it is not anything to do with making money.
Holes in the roads
Just a warning to anyone driving along Priests road to be careful of the big hole in the road just above Gordon Road, I saw someone come off their bike earlier when they hit it and it looked fairly deep so it could damage your car if you drive down it!
Good and Poor customer service
I was talking to a friend today about the number of companies who don’t seem to want your business due to a lack of communication, either failing to call back or completely ignoring your attempts to contact them to either use their services or buy something.
Personally I have enquired with local companies for new double glazing and with an estate agent about a property in the last month and they haven’t bothered to reply so they must be too busy to need any new customers.
I am sure there are businesses in the area who offer good customer service so if any of our blog readers have had a good shopping experience they can name the shop or business?
Crumbling sea-wall
Has anyone else noticed that the sea wall has been breached near Playland ......... Might be an idea for the people living in the flats opposite the White Horse to invest in some wellies !
Swanage James Day Residential Home to Close
James Day Home in New Swanage will be closing as a residential home which is planned for the end of March / early April.
There is to be a meeting at the home on Thursday 4th Feb when the residents will be told that they are to be relocated.
The home has had many thousands of pounds spent on it over recent months and the standard of care and facilities provided are excellent so the choice by Dorset County Council to vastly increase the rent the owners have to pay making it no longer viable to keep open seems very unfair on both the residents and staff who have worked very hard to look after the elderly residents and run the home.

Website Stats for 2007, 2008 and 2009
Website visitor stats for the past three years, as you can see from the numbers below the visitors for 2009 are down from 2008 but there was a sharp decline in visitors around August 2008 when the media started to give a lot of coverage to the up and coming recession.

Swanage in Bloom competition abandoned
THE Swanage in Bloom competition has been abandoned, bringing two decades of horticultural history to an end.
Organisers called time on the contest because of dwindling committee numbers.
Committee secretary Valerie Pike said: “After 20 years, the few remaining members of the Swanage in Bloom committee have reluctantly decided to call it a day.
